Washington December 29 UP I H The army is accused of undermining the morale of 40000 reserve officers on extended active duty. Col Clarence FE Barnes president of the reserve officers association of the United States charges a recent directive on promotion is discriminatory and lowers morale. He says Royall promised no discrimination against reserves and that the policy has harmed morale more than any other act by the army.

Caretaker of Lincolns Tomb to Retire

Springfield Dr Dec 30 Herbert Wells Fay long time guardian of Abraham Lincoln’s final resting place in Oak Ridge cemetery will retire January 1 at age 89 90 in February. State law forces retirement at 70 after 15 years in service. He will be succeeded by his son Earl Owen Fay aged 63 named custodian of the tomb.
