Mother to See Quadruple Amputee Son

Washington reports the mother of 20 year old Army private Robert Smith of Middleburg Pennsylvania will visit him at Walter Reed hospital after he became the first quadruple amputee of the Korean War. Smith lost both legs below the knees and both hands from frostbite after fighting near Chogin reservoir on November 27. He arrived in Washington via plane and was carried on a stretcher into an ambulance.

Atomic energy chief proposes civilian science corps
