Kiwanis members in Priddy hosted a Christmas party at the New Cap Hotel tossing a tree loaded with packages for county families. The gifts will be distributed Christmas morning by a committee as club members emphasized keeping Christmas spirit through the year.
Michael L. Hirsh and six companions were stranded when their car slid into mud beside railroad tracks in Cincinnati. The seventh engine collided with the vehicle, crushing it beyond repair as bystanders watched helplessly.
Fayetteville Ark. two youths Elza Lawson and Owen Lawson aged 19 and 20 drowned Friday night when their car attempted to ford Winn Creek near Westfork. The stream, swollen by heavy rains, swept the trio from the vehicle as brothers Andrew Lawson and Otto and Austin Winn survived the incident.
A tornado struck the southwestern section of ENGLAND Ark early Saturday unroofing or damaging about 30 dwellings and injuring two people. Property damage is estimated at 35 000 to 40 000 dollars. Mrs Bee McArthur 45 suffered a head injury from a brick as a flue fell in her home. A Black woman was severely injured when a falling timber caused her home to collapse. Most severely damaged homes were occupied by Black residents.
Strong gusts around 11 30 p m Friday toppled a Baptist church and a filling station in Hampton Arkansas while shattering windows in several homes. One house lost its roof and Mrs C W Poole wife of State Senator Poole suffered minor injuries from flying glass.

Their escape is cut off and hopes for rescuers to force a tube through the barrier to supply fresh air. Poisonous gas fears raise risk of death for the entrapped men.

LITTLE ROCK Christmas furloughs were voided for two youth convicts after police said they robbed an Arkansas theater on a night out from the penitentiary. Warden Todhunter plans to seek revocation of the furloughs for W. O. Smith and Paul Edwards, each facing five year terms for grand larceny and a statutory offense.

A bakery wagon in Columbus caught fire when leaking gasoline from a hot exhaust ignited on the road. The blaze damaged the truck for 50 dollars and ruined 40 dollars worth of baked goods.

Seventy six U S army trucks and 600 men of the First Cavalry will overnight in Hope on their return from Texas to Kentucky in about two weeks if camping space is found. Trucks from Fort Knox to Fort Russell passed through Hope Thursday morning. they spent Wednesday night in Prescott refueling with 1482 gallons of gasoline. M S Bates of Hope, Gulf Refining district agent, facilitated plans and suggested the Garland school grounds as a possible encampment site with school board consent.
Russellville Ark farmer W S Hubbard kept fifteen hens and three cows this year yielding income equivalent to about four bales of cotton. Aside from family food, the livestock generated a net income exceeding $100.
Liquidating Agent W. S. Atkins announces a 20 percent dividend for depositors of the defunct Bank of Ozan. This brings total recovery to 48 percent. The new dividend is about $7,500, part of the original $15,000 in deposits returned to date.
Washington announces a RFC Christmas present with a 0.5 percent lower interest rate on loans. The reduction takes effect January 1 1933 and applies to loans maturing before December 31 1933, benefiting banks railroads and financial institutions borrowing from the agency.
