Miss Deborah Jean Watson and Robert Doyle Bledsoe were united in marriage December 19 at First Baptist Church. Officiated by the groom’s father, the ceremony featured red poinsettias, smilax, four seven branched candelabra, and a chancel of roses. The bride wore candlelight peau de soie with lace, veil, and white roses. attendants included Miss Carol Hargis as maid of honor and multiple bridesmaids. A reception followed at Hope Country Club with cake and punch, then a wedding trip to Dallas.
Washington AP reports the Senate approved the conference report on the Omnibus Rivers and Harbors Bill of 1970. It contains authorization for a wildlife refuge near Felsenthal Lock and Dam in South Arkansas. Senator John L. McClellan said only President Nixon's signature was needed for the bill to become law.
