Federal Reserve Reports Record High Reserves and Low Debt
The Federal Reserve System shows its strongest condition in history with weekly reserves at a record level and the reserve ratio highest since pre war days aside from 1924. Member banks now borrow less from the system, indebtedness totaling 257 million dollars versus 768 million a year ago. The system holds over 3 billion in gold within reserves plus another one billion held by the Treasury.
