Allies Seize Cambodian Rubber Town in Cambodia drive
South Vietnamese troops seized the Cambodian rubber plantation town of Chup without opposition. Six thousand Vietnamese led by an armored column occupied the 75 square mile plantation as part of a 25,000 man eastern Cambodia offensive begun Nov. 22. Two North Vietnamese defectors were interrogated. A U.S. CH1 helicopter supporting the operation was shot down, with two crewmen killed.
