A warming trend is expected to begin in Arkansas Wednesday after a rapidly moving cold front cleared the state early this morning. The front produced minor moisture with sprinkles and trace rain in Little Rock Jonesboro and Memphis during the 24 hour period ending at 6 am.

Two men charged in Florence County multi murder case

Florence County police filed murder charges against Donald Gaskins 38 and Walter Neely 30 after six bodies were unearthed in shallow graves near a field by Lake City. James Judy 23 of Charleston was charged previously. Police say four victims were shot and two had throats slit, details still unconfirmed.

Hope Optimist club Christmas tree sale raises youth funds

Hope Optimist Club holds its annual Christmas tree sale on the Pioneer Printing lot at Second and Shower Streets. Open hours vary by day, with about 200 trees priced from 5 to 10 dollars to fund Hope youth programs.

Obituaries for Jewel Cox and Susan Whitaker

Funeral services for Jewel M. Cox, 67, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bethel Church, Glenwood, with Davis Funeral Home directing. Survivors include wife Irma Willis Cox, son Sonny Cox, three brothers Hollis, Noel, and Leonard Cox, three sisters and one grandchild. Also, funeral services for Mrs. Susan Tucker Whitaker, 83, former Prescott resident, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at East Memorial chapel in Texarkana. Burial followed in Rose Hill cemetery. survivors include daughter Don Durham, three sons P. D. Whitaker, Ben Tucker Whitaker, and Norman Whitaker Jr., five grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
