Sit In Protests Extend at Berkeley Sproul Hall

More than 800 UC Berkeley students occupied Sproul Hall in an all night protest linked to the Free Speech Movement. Police locked doors, issued citations to Mario Savio and three others, while demonstrators sang and ate as campus and city officers prepared to clear the building.

Weather Forecast For Arkansas Regions

Weather continues cloudy and colder through Friday with scattered tonight snow flurries. Northwest Arkansas faces hazardous driving warnings north of Fayetteville Harrison line due to freezing rain drizzle and light snow. Northeast Arkansas to be colder with occasional rain changing to light snow. Southeast Arkansas may see severe thunderstorms this afternoon or tonight, possibly a tornado, shifting to snow or flurries late tonight and Friday.

McLendon Faces Scrutiny as Curtis, McCloskey Clash

During a tense Senate hearing, McLendon urged removal from his post as special counsel while Williams, Curtis, and McCloskey sparred over truth and records. Don Reynolds testified a $25,000 overpayment to the McCloskey firm was a political payoff to the Kennedy Johnson fund, with Reynolds claiming to be the bag man for Baker and McCloskey. McCloskey, age 71 and former ambassador to Ireland, defended himself and accused Reynolds of lying as Stewart pressed for missing records on federal project work.

Man Dies in Gum Springs Fire Near Se arcy Ark

Robert Brown 67 of Gum Springs died in a house fire that destroyed his home in SEARCY Arkansas. His body was discovered by two hunters according to the coroner.
