Market Report Grain and Provisions in Chicago Trading
Grain and provisions closed mixed as prices steadied after a late-week drop. Corn and oats showed more firmness than wheat, with strong short-covering in oats and a 305,000 bushel wheat purchase by the Kansas City commodity credit corporation. Flour prices fell in New York while wheat and corn moved modestly. Cotton futures remained unsettled amid hedge selling and textile concerns.

Divorce Does Not Dissolve Guardianship Role
Little Hock Dec 2 The Arkansas Supreme court ruled divorce does not end guardianship duties for a spouse who may be mentally incompetent and ordered Dr D S Barton to pay Tennessee 400 annually from April 24 1993 for the care of his divorced wife Loretta at a Nashville hospital. Barton was guardian since 1921 after her commitment. He had a Utah divorce in 1926 and stopped payments in 1933. Miller Chancery also absolved several parties from repaying taxes paid by Lincoln National Life Insurance on two Miller County farm tracts, citing a three year statute of limitations.
