Delinquent Youth Image Shifts In Postwar Era
The Times-Picayune notes a postwar shift from viewing youths as delinquents to admiring noble aims and hero status. New Orleans authorities report rising juvenile arrests and offenses, suggesting repeat violations rise faster than total arrests, while experts urge youth to seek constructive glory. A separate note cites Parliament members protesting a budget in English in Ceylon, contrasted with English budgeting.

Marvell boycott cuts Negro class attendance in second day
SNCC reported about 250 Negro students attended classes as a second day of boycott began in Marvell School District. Superintendent G C Cawsert again declined to comment while SNCC said only about 300 of an estimated 1,800 Negro pupils were in class. The group said the boycott targets refusal to follow 1966 guidelines of the Civil Rights Act and the district’s failure to provide freedom of choice forms to parents.
