Noblest expression of American architecture Lincoln Memorial
The Lincoln Memorial stands on the Potomac banks as a pinnacle of U.S. design, dedicated in 1922 after a decade of construction. From rock foundations 50 feet below grade, it rises 122 feet, with a 204 by 144 foot platform and a 188 by 118 foot colonnade. Marble from Colorado and a monumental Daniel Chester French statue crown the hall.
