Hope School Budget Faces State Aid Cut and Local Tax Shift

An emergency Hope School Board meeting reveals that state aid covers about 70 percent of the district's budget, with potential further cuts next year. Officials urge raising local property values and tightening assessments rather than increasing the tax rate, warning a tough taxpayer stance is needed as federal wartime revenue fades. The move targets balancing the public school system’s finances and sustaining services amid reduced state funds.
