Crop Insurance Expands to Five Arkansas Counties

Washington AP reports Senator Fulbright says federal crop insurance will extend next year to five Arkansas counties. The list includes Mississippi cotton and soybeans. Jackson cotton rice and soybeans. Lee cotton rice and soybeans. Johnson peaches. and Howard peaches. Franklin and Pope peaches may join Johnson, while Pike, Mempstead and Sevier could join Howard. Ten counties were insured this year. A Senate-passed bill to raise nationwide counties from 100 to 10 is before the House.

Two Killed in Separate Wrecks in Arkansas and California

Derby mother offers switch baby for house

A Derby mother of six refused to give up her month-old daughter to obtain a house. Dean Rook, 93, said she would make the sacrifice to feed her other five children. The Rooks were evicted for rent arrears and placed in temporary hospital accommodation while husband Jim, 35, stayed in a Salvation Army hostel.
