Bean predicts 1950 election trends amid war and living costs
Louis H. Bean, agriculture economist, argues the Korean War and home-front costs could sway the 1950 elections. He predicts House losses for Democrats of 25 to 30 seats and Senate losses of three or four, without GOP control, assuming no major economic or international shifts. He notes wartime factors may boost turnout or shift voter focus, with farm prices stabilizing and inflation hurting lower-income city voters.
