Officials said Dale Biery 21 of North Little Rock died Sunday after falling 75 feet from a cliff at Eden Falls in Lost Valley near Jasper Arkansas. He was the son of Dr and Mrs E L Biery of North Little Rock.
Sen. J. W. Fulbright urges the United Nations to use force if needed to restore prewar borders and patrol neutral zones in the Middle East with a U.S. treaty guaranteeing Israel's security after withdrawal from occupied territories. He argues the plan could revive the UN and cites Russian interest in a compromise settlement. He criticizes Israel for inflexibility and warns of uncertain American commitments.
Busing and education emerged as main campaign issues in the final weekend before Tuesday primaries. Democrat Dale Bumpers downplayed busing as a dividing issue, urging focus on solving problems. Israel cleared the way for indirect Middle East talks by naming Foreign Minister Abba Eban as its delegate, while charging Egypt with violating the cease-fire by expanding missile bases near the Suez Canal. Deputy ambassador Yosef Te-koah will attend the first session in Eban’s stead, with U.N. envoy Gunnar V. Jarring to set the date.

Reports say 20 B 52s dropped 600 tons of bombs on bunkers and storage sites 6 miles west of Fire Base Fuller, a base near the DMZ. Fuller, 22 miles east of the Laotian border and 4 miles south of the DMZ, had seen a 43 day siege last spring. Ground fighting in Vietnam and Cambodia was light with small skirmishes. American raids targeted Cambodia's Parrot's Beak region to prevent a Vietnamese reentry. Cambodian authorities claimed a major base camp was destroyed and up to 500 enemy combatants killed, though verification was lacking.
Jonesboro Arkansas AP reports James Laman Hodges aged four, son of a local resident, drowned after entering a small lake while swimming. Authorities investigated the incident and urged caution for young children near water.
Three escapees from Baxter County jail in Mountain Home are named as Leonard Naugle 31 Genville Mo Howard Estes 39 Summit and Ronderw forth 17 Midway. Investigators report the trio escaped this morning from custody and were at large in the area.
