Nez France Aug 18 Cuban star Cortinas failed to complete the crossing from Cap Gris Nez to Dover as high waves and a leg cramp forced his withdrawal after about five hours. He blamed weather and exhaustion while trainers and officials cited unfavorable conditions delaying next attempt. Cortinas praised for smooth strokes but weather proved decisive.
