Denison Dam work delayed to late next year
Army engineers plan for the Denison reservoir on the Red river six miles northwest of Denison Texas but no funding exists to start. Congress authorized a five year flood control program, with construction possibly beginning late in 1939 if funds become available. The project would create a 190 foot high dam and a reservoir submerging about 306000 acres, with cost estimates around 43 million dollars plus land acquisition and local drainage improvements.
