The Associated Press reports 13 deaths in Arkansas from violence and accidents during the week ending at midnight. Notable cases include 11 year old Jury Dewayne Wookie drowning at Lake City after entering the Prancia River, and James Tina Newell severely injured in Newport. Southwest and Southeast Arkansas fair through Tuesday with highs 90 to 94, lows 65 to 70. Northwest Arkansas fair through Tuesday, highs 80s to mid 90s, lows 50s to 60s. Northeast Arkansas fair through Tuesday, highs mid 80s to 90s, lows around 60 to 65, warmer by Wednesday.

Fire destroys Pine Bluff plant

AP reports the Standard Tea Co. plant in Pine Bluff Ark was destroyed by fire with damage estimated above 100000 dollars. Firemen fought the blaze for over five hours. no injuries. Fire Chief Joe Edwards could not determine the cause. The fire began around 2 am and salvage work saved a portion of the facility and ice storage. W J Ayers of Memphis owns the plant.

The character from the western song Woolverton Mountain, famed for warding off suitors with knife and gun, is said to be Clawers.
