Clear Sailing for House War Controls Bill
Washington Aug. 11. A sweeping House approved grant of authority for President Truman to invoke wage price controls and rationing moved to the Senate. Democratic leaders predicted defeat of Republican efforts to trim it. The House vote was 383 to 12. It would also authorize a $330 billion loan program to spur defense production and grant consumer credit controls and real estate adjustments after Aug. 3.
