Dayton, August 6. A government-made smoke bomb was hurled today near the Univis Lens Co plant as about 1,400 national guard troops patrolled the area. The blast scattered guardsmen who were securing the plant amid a wage dispute with United Electrical Workers. Police hunted the car occupants, which sped away after the explosion as union and company leaders had failed to reach a settlement with Gov. Herbert’s intervention.
