More than 400 replacement heifers in Hempstead County were vaccinated against Bangs Disease in July as part of a thrice yearly cattle health program. Joe Hamilton, vaccinator for the State Veterinarian, oversaw 401 heifers in July, with 1936 prior vaccinations recorded.

Prowler Reported at Elm Street Home

City police answered a prowler call at the home of Dick Turnage at 621 N Elm. The residence was entered and a small amount of money taken. Police are investigating. City police reported a separate accident at Second and Walnut involving Red Garrison of Hot Springs and Mrs. J. L. Green of Hope with minor damage.

Four National Guard Divisions Mobilized in August
