The Arkansas Supreme Court rejected Blytheville city clerk Dorothy Besharse's appeal after a lower court ordered her to turn bank accounts, records and data to the finance director. The city created the finance post after a November 1971 audit flagged a $15,511 shortage and January 1972 indictments.
Donald Lee Willis, 40, died recently and funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. today in the Herndon Chapel with Rev. Gerald Trussell officiating. Burial followed in Memory Gardens Cemetery. He was survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Willis of Hope. Barbara Anne Gross, 37, of Hope, died at home Sunday. She was a nurse at Hempstead County Memorial Hospital and a member of First Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband Rev. Robert L. Gross, three sons Larry, Billy and Keith, a daughter Linda, all of Hope, and her parents Gilbert M. Kyger of Harlingen, Texas and wife. Funeral services will be announced later by Herndon Funeral Home.
The fire truck wrecked Oct. 20, 1972 at S Main St and E 3rd was repaired and returned to service Friday April 27. Fred Robertson and his wife of Minden Louisiana won a Honolulu trip for high district sales. Mrs Robertson is sister of Mrs Terry Becherer. Mayor Sam Strong signed May 1 as Law Day in Hope, honoring American liberties.
