Humphrey Moves to Discourage Delegation Handling
Vice President Hubert H. Humphrey seeks to prevent any uncommitted delegation from pledging to him in the California runoff. State and campaign officials indicate he will avoid appearances in primary states and push to win delegates in conventions and district elections. In New York he targets support to gain a majority of its 190 votes while coordinating with Philadelphia area delegates and Pennsylvania supporters.

Liquor Sales to Minors Declared Illegal by State Supreme Court
In Little Rock the state Supreme Court ruled that selling liquor to a minor is illegal if the seller does not know the buyer is underage. The decision upholds charges against Eugene and Noble Jarvis, previously dismissed by Circuit Judge Andrew Ponder. Both men were fined in Newport Municipal Court on two counts of selling or giving intoxicants to minors. Prosecutor Hodges contended that the 1879 statute remains in force despite later legislation.
