The New Orleans bound Ar goonaut train struck a broken rail near Guasti California, injuring 36 people, three seriously. Ambulances evacuated the injured to four area hospitals while others rode by bus to Colton. Eight were released after treatment as cars derailed but stayed upright.

Root Oil Company will pay 250 000 in cash within three years with the balance based on fresh feed charged to the catalytic cracking unit. The facility sits on about 24 acres and includes catalytic cracking and alkylation units plus offered equipment and office items at determined prices.

Harry Frasier, 29, of Havana Arkansas, was killed instantly at a coal mine near Mansfield on Saturday when a steam shovel he worked on touched an electric wire. The accident occurred April 28.

Beaufort South Carolina April 28 Victor Boardman of Augusta survived nine hours in a freezing ebb tide ordeal after a 16 foot fishing boat capsized. Four men swept seaward were missing including Nat Sweetman and Wy an Jenkins. Dr Harry Good 73 of Augusta perished as the sea washed ashore a shrimp boat surfaced near him. Boardman told how he clung ten minutes at a time, hoping for a miracle before being saved by a passing vessel.
Oswaldo Aranha, former Brazilian minister, presided the UN special session in New York as delegates set up officers and committee machinery. Warren Austin and Andrei Gromyko gave identical answers on Palestine while secret radio blasts warned of no peace until the issue is settled. A Jewish Agency informant reportedly urged a show of force in the Palestine case.
