Easter events span April 20 and 21 across multiple venues. First Baptist Church Calendar’s egg hunt for all pupils Saturday at Mrs. Bates’s home 4510 South Elm. Hope Country Club hosts a Sunday hunt at 4 PM with several hostesses. DeAnn Community plans teen and child hunts at Burke's Store Sunday at 2:30 PM, urging each child to bring six eggs and awarding prizes for prettiest egg and top finder.

The Victory 4-H Club met on Thursday night April 11 in its regular meeting at the club house. President Phillip Rowe called the meeting to order. Kay Burke led songs, Joan Willis read minutes and called roll, Jesse Duckett demonstrated making drugs from burlap bags, Ronnie Burke gave a skit with Jimmy Bush singing.

Mulberry Tree Puffing Smoke Baffles Arkansas Witnesses

In Little Rock a mulberry tree in a backyard seemed to puff smoke from its branches. Mrs Verdia Towh watched as wisps formed like cigarette smoke while a breadman milkman reporter and photographer observed. State Forester Fred Lang could not confirm a cause but ruled out nicotine, noting a diseased tree can display odd phenomena.

Man Buys Town Now Its Booming

Muddy Illinois voters approved liquor sales in a dry southern county after John Molinardo, a 33 year old former coal miner, bought nearly the entire town and revived it with a tavern or night club. The town of Muddy, population 125, would become a liquor oasis as a result.

4-H Victory Club Forms May County Council

The Victory Club candidates announced plans to run for county 4-H Council and shared their qualifications. Members decided to hold only one meeting per month. The session adjourned to May 9 and welcomed new member Suzie Dean.
