Hope Schools finances show improvement says auditor

Pryors Reconciled After Year apart

Hope Man Wounded in St Luke Community Shooting

Hempstead County Sheriff’s spokesman says I V Wylie was shot in the shoulder by Curt McFadden after an argument in the St Luke Community near Oran. McFadden held at Hempstead County Jail. Wylie treated at Howard County Memorial Hospital in satisfactory condition Tuesday morning.

Fire rips Galveston hotel. 10 to 12 believed dead

A five story brick hotel in downtown Galveston collapsed into flames after a early morning blaze. Police feared 10 to 12 lives were lost and 28 remained unaccounted for as 14 were hospitalized. Fire officials said escape routes were blocked and several people leaped from windows. One boy and a man were among the first bodies recovered.

Four Hope men traveled to Little Rock to learn why the regional health center would be placed in Nashville rather than Hope. Governor and State Health Director Dr Rex C. Ramsey denied making the decision, leaving locals puzzled by the process and the district boundaries. Paris Fire Sparks Rescue Of Sophie Loren And Family

Fire in the Residence George V in Paris forced Sophie Loren and her two young children to take shelter on the roof in the early hours. Loren, in a nightgown, was carried down by firefighters after escaping a fourth floor origin, with her son Eduardo needing an oxygen mask. The blaze, suspected from a short circuit, was tamed after several hours. Loren’s husband Dario Ponti was abroad and contacted authorities on learning of the incident.
