Courts urge license suspension for drunk drivers
Arkansas Attorney General Jack Holt ruled that courts should suspend and forward a convicted drunk driver’s license to the revenue commission for revocation rather than allow the license to remain during appeals. The opinion, sent to Paul Walte of Fort Smith, argues that delaying license loss would defeat the purpose of the drinking and driving law. Holt also noted municipal courts can issue marriage ceremonies and that an emergency clause on a 1999 statute was upheld in another ruling.
