Dorothy Mae Stevens Anderson the so called frozen woman from Chicago who survived freezing in 1591 after exposure, is to drive a car for the first time. A Wisconsin farmer donated a 1962 car after learning of her wish to visit church and handicapped friends. Volunteers will provide hand controls driving lessons and installations to enable driving.

Mississippi River Falls Amid Levee Breach Fears on Island Evacuation
Waters along eastern Missouri drop as winds up to 60 mph whip waves against sandbag levees. At Kashaskia Island 60 miles south of St. Louis the Army Corps ordered evacuation with most residents leaving nightly since March 10 as the levee erodes and four barges of stone may be sent to reinforce. In Chouteau Island near Granite City 70 families remain in homes under a touch and go situation though no evacuation was ordered. The river fell to 38 feet in St. Louis after cresting at 39.8 feet Friday.

May of North Little Rock fails to regain council seat
May of North Little Rock attempted to reclaim his old city council seat during Monday's meeting but was blocked by a police officer. He left to consult his lawyer after the state Supreme Court reversed his abortion conviction, sending the case back for a new trial. May claimed the reversal restored his right to serve, while City Attorney Tanner said no mandate existed until further action. The attorney general's office has 17 days to petition after a rehearing request.
