In Whitharral Texas 17 year old Ricardo Lopez shot and killed principal Malcolm Omar Tripp on the school porch. Lopez was arrested and charged with murder with bond set at 10000. The incident occurred after the bell at about 9 am as Tripp offered a ride home after a dispute.

The three year project tested 240 labs with results revealing low accuracy in blood type matching paint analysis and other tests with ongoing efforts to identify weaknesses and improve performance.
