The Nixon administration is sending 20 additional B52 bombers to Southeast Asia, augmenting 80 plus aircraft already in operation. Pentagon officials decline comment on North Vietnam air strikes while noting Abrams must protect U.S. personnel. Domestic politics limit expanding American forces, though a broader bombing option remains a possibility. Two more aircraft carriers were ordered to join forces off Vietnam.

Judge G Thomas Eisele Offers to Quit Gillham Dam Case
U S District Judge G Thomas Eisele said he would disqualify himself from the Gillham Dam suit unless all parties request him to stay by Thursday. He cited his children’s stock in a trust fund tied to Weeyerhouser Corp which owns land below the dam site. Environmentalists seek to halt construction on the Cossatot River, arguing it would end the last free-flowing stream in the Ouachita Mountains. Richard S. Arnold's office said plaintiffs’ letter indicated no objection to Eisele remaining on the case.
