Higby plans to force a public retraction, faces possible exposure of past deeds, and takes Corny to Higby’s Sutton Place apartment where Frances lies battered after a visit by unknown callers. Labor recruitment has begun to hire about 300 women per plant, with up to 80 workers each. One firm makes pants, another headwear, the third is a general garment plant.
