Kansas City Journal Suspends Publication Final Edition

Kansas City loses the Journal after suspension announced and final edition published. Harry Newman and associates ran the paper since October. it employed about 400 people, including 50 on the editorial staff. New Registrants to be Classified for May or June Induction

Washington headquarters said men registered February 18 will be immediately classified and many could be inducted in May or June. Local boards are to begin classification of the February 16 entrants and prepare for the June call, with the October 16 1940 and July 1 1941 registrants forming the first age group and February 16 entrants the second.

CAMP ROBINSON A post office department announcement would handle postage free mail from service men. Jubilation rose as authorities said 60 000 to 70 000 letters a day were sent. Private George H Grim, former radio director for the Minneapolis Star Journal and Tribune, had priority to send the first stampless letter to the Star Journal publisher.

El Dorado student Dr. Paul Geren, 28, went to Rangoon to teach at Judson College and work at a hospital in a bomb wrecked Burmese town. He is among educators under Dr. Gordon Segraves, serving Chinese soldiers on the Toungoo front after completing study at Baylor, LSU, and Harvard.

NYA Furnishes Trained Workers

Washington report shows National Youth Administration sent 421,000 trained youths to private industry last year, including 210,000 to war-contract plants.
