The season may total 70000 in local loans, with 464520 statewide approved in Arkansas through Memphis.

A search Saturday failed to locate relatives of a man found murdered in a box car at Bearden near Camden. A poorly written letter to James or Jones at Hope was found, dated January 16, 13, signed Alford. The deceased, about 50, gray hair, five feet tall, appears to have been beaten to death.
About 12 000 in taxes paid into the Fate irgasuryt by 55 public utilities under the levy for the Fact-Finding Tribunal of the Corporation Commission. Commissioner C P Newton notes utilities are affected by the new law creating a three member tribunal with an attorney, engineer, and accountant to provide rate data for municipalities. Utilities must file reports showing gross earnings and pay a tax of 2 for each 1 000 annually, with a delinquency penalty of two percent per month.
President Roosevelt called in congressional leaders and cabinet members for a conference on Tennessee Valley development. He intends to submit a proposal to Congress early next week advocating valley development through reforestation land control and power projects.

The Hope Garden club has sold over 400 crepe myrtle plants to beautify the city. Filing station operators bought many shrubs. W. M. Hart and Mrs. A. D. Branyan helped sell and plant the shrubs along approaches into the city.

Acts 26 and 24% require a 60 day post adjournment effective date. Act 247, abolishing the county superintendent office and creating the county examiner post, has no salary payment provision.
In El FASG Texas two robbers attempted a pair of holdups over small change. They first accosted H. H. Yaytar who had no cash to steal. They then stopped L. Hurts and took 40 cents from his car until police arrived.

An audit filed with State Bank Commissioner Marion Wasson shows John W. Ferguson, cashier of Citizens Bank at Benton, has been missing since March 14 and is short 6742 dollars in bank accounts. The related Citizens Agricultural Credit Corporation audit shows a 4508.64 dollar shortage in the association under Ferguson, who also served as secretary. Both shortages are covered by surety bonds. the department took charge of the bank March 22 and seeks settlement with Fidelity and Casualty Company of New York.
Alan John Hutcherson, a colored man, appeared before Judge H B Abernathey charged with an offense against Ernest Mitchell. Hutcherson reportedly had his nose bitten off during the incident.
