Congregationalists to Hold Convention Here in Hood River
Hood River will host the Oregon State Conference of Congregational churches October 5 to 10 with about nine hundred delegates and eight hundred members expected. Delegates will stay in homes around Riverside Church. meals will be served at the church. The program features sermons by Rev J S Staub and Rev J M Lowden, talks on fellowship and New Congregationalism, plus sessions on religious education, church federation, and social responsibilities. Notable speakers include Rev F D Van Horne of Seattle and Miss Maude Howard.

Former Hood River Boy Perishes in Alaskan Hills
Leslie Oliver aged 17 from Hood River died on Sheep Creek Mountain near Juneau Alaska with two companions. Bodies of John Shattuck 21 and Dell Linscott 20 found nearby after seven hours of searching. All perished from hunger cold and exposure while attempting to reach a miner's cabin. Shattuck a University of Oregon graduate was prominent in athletics. Linscott a Douglas resident. The party lacked blankets or provisions and fog hindered rescue efforts.

W I Nichol returning from a long trip across Canada the U S and Missouri says Hood River apples lack the old home orchard flavor.
