Despite heavy rain the Canby Post and Women’s Relief Corps held a pension day dinner Monday with good attendance. Old soldiers and wives enjoyed the ocean meal, music and speeches. Mrs Blanche Harbison received a token of remembrance from the Ladies of the Relief Corps as she moves to Hillenbore. The presentation was by Mrs J H Baker.

The Hy dro-Electric Company, owner of Hood River power sites, will soon begin constructing lines and plant. It has secured many prospective patrons and substantial financial backing. Officer N. G. Evans has been in Portland arranging machinery and material for the new plant.

The blaze, which began on the north side of the west fork and jumped the stream, was fought by a large group of residents for several days before being extinguished.
