The Hood River Commercial Club held its annual banquet at Odd Fellows hall with 250 members, a goal of 115 new members reached since the last meeting. Speakers praised the city's future and valley development while local and visiting guests offered praise and planned progress.
A new Hood River publicity booklet, unveiled last week by Secretary Skinner of the Commercial Club, is described as the handsomest of its kind. The cover and inside design feature Mount Hood and the valley in several colors with gold borders, seen as a lasting keepsake of Hood River and Oregon resources. Residents are expected to procure copies for display and gifting, with officials predicting it will surpass prior efforts in art and appeal.
Hood River residents cue up for a bustling auto year as Gilbert Vaughan Co reports four new car sales to H Hellbronner D B Donan Wilson Fike and Leslie Butler. Cadillacs and a Chalmers Detroit join a growing local fleet with twelve more in negotiation and a total near thirty five, aiming for around fifty by season’s end. An Auto Interest trend and county road improvements are expected to boost demand.
McKengle's Merry Makers closed a successful engagement here Saturday night. A watch prize awarded to Irene Ford after the performance. The orchestra played for dancers late into the evening, two stepping for several hours. The McKennie Company plans a return engagement in October. The Ladies Aid Society of the U B church will host a chicken dinner at the K of P hall on March 1st.

Jack Morrison bought the Seneca Fouts property on Second street for 14 000 dollars. The parcel fronts 68 feet on Second street and extends 10 feet deep, situated between the new Hotel Oregon and the Brosius block.
Culbertson & Co sold ten acres on Hood River's east side from A. A. Hoover to G. H. Carrier for 86000, with one third in ten year old trees. Another sale by Culbertson moved 40 acres from D. M. Jackson to Rev. G. K. Turk of Toronto for development. Onthank & Hubbard form a new real estate firm to operate from the Dutchling space formerly used by Hayward’s cigar store and Morse Bros. The Hood River area hosts a Unity Church event and a local elocution show by Mrs. A. E. Meserve of Port Innod.
Prof. Winslow is quoted saying he had never seen a locality with no little contents within an orchard as enthusiasm ran high. The remark highlights strong local interest in forthcoming agricultural plans and orchard developments.
At a special meeting the Common Council accepted the plan for a new water system by J B Newell of Newell Growser Walsh. Advertisements for bids for construction were authorized contingent on sale of bonds. Work to begin May with completion by November. Councilmen Weight Brostis and Hall named a special committee to push negotiations and secure rights of way.
