Hood River County tax levy set amid state rate changes

Hood River County officials announce the new levy for state and county purposes. Letters Sent to the President at Commercial Club Meeting

At a Wednesday board meeting of the Commercial club, resolutions urged justice in reclamation funding for the Northwest with Hood River County seeking soil surveys and fruit packing attention. New directors were sworn in: James E. Montgomery, Ed F. Watt, J. F. Robertson. officers elected: Clarke, Clark, Watt, Kauffman. New members include W Fort Johnson and others. Congressmen Hawley Lafferty Chamberlain and Senator Bourne sent replies about extending agricultural surveys and support for storage methods.

Levy for Portland Road Favored at Corbett

The Corbett meeting approved a small tax levy on the road district No. Mimet to fund road improvements. Seven percent of the tax will finance the Hood River wagon road up the Columbia River to Hood River, with the remainder for side roads. The group urged rushing Hood River road completion as Multnomah County advances work toward the county line.

Little Girl Saved After Poison Bottle Incident

A three year old girl drank from a bottle of corrosive poison found among old medicine bottles while her mother cleaned a chest. An emetic saved her life. Doctor Damble narrowly avoided injury when a farm horse kicked him while responding.

Voters Back Dock Bond Driving County Support Strong

Sentiment across the county favors issuing bonds for a proposed dock deck project. Over one hundred letters to County Judge Culbertson show broad support with residents offering strong pro, some saying they would pay even if cost rises to two thousand dollars. Snowhound Passengers Endure Harsh Rail Trip Woes

Decision in Power Company Suit Renews Wiring Order

Judge Bean in Portland ruled Hedra Electrical guilty of contempt for directing crews to string wires after an injunction. The order requires Hedra and Pacific to relocate poles and separate lines by seven feet outside the city and on opposite sides within the city, with costs to Hedra.
