The Honey Grove Round Up Club marks its rodeo anniversary with horsemanship judging for queen and princess candidates on July 15 at 3 30 in the rodeo arena. Entries due by July 10. rodeo runs July 19 to 21. Contact Jody Fuller at 378 2517. Old Times recalls a 1946 tornado night and a reunion after the storm.

State funded project brings 73 new STOP signs to Honey Grove. Signs on 2 inch steel piping set in concrete require vehicles to make a complete stop at intersections. Police Chief Hoyt Ivey stresses fines and collisions are risked by ignoring the signs.
A beginner tole painting class is offered to area residents. It starts Thursday July 5 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and runs six consecutive Thursdays. The cost is 4.00 per lesson. June Hurd is the instructor. For information call 378-7067.
Three defendants faced marijuana possession charges resulting in maximum city penalties. Judge Raymond Smoot imposed a $203.50 fine in each case. Investigation and charges were filed by the Honey Grove Police Department.

The Southernairs Quartet of Paris Texas performs this Saturday evening June 30 at 7 30 p m at Bartley Woods Gospel Singing held at Bartley Woods school each Saturday. A Ft Worth group Country Generations joins. Admission is free with recreation for youngsters and a snack bar available.
The Fannin County Center of Paris Junior College will offer a six week Beginning Bridge course starting Wednesday July 11 1979 at 6 30 pm. Helen Bisek certified Goren Bridge Instructor will teach the class in Honey Grove at the Robert West Annex with a 20 registration fee limited to sixteen.
A Page Wilkinson family reunion is set for Sunday July 1 1979 at the Telephone Community Center. Descendants of James Arthur Page and Mary Dona Little Page who married Joe Wilkinson after her first husband’s death will gather with eight living children and numerous grandchildren and great descendants. Relatives are invited to bring a covered dish. lunch will be served at 12:30 followed by visiting and reminiscence. Friends may visit as well.
Cynthia Lynn Doyle is among 59 Texas high school graduates who accepted Blue and Gold Society Presidential Scholarships to attend East Texas State University Commerce in the 1979 fall semester. The $400 awards help cover tuition university housing and incidentals.
Honey Grove honors WWII veteran Johnny Avery with a July 4 event at the VFW Post Home. Avery, a longtime Honey Grove resident and 20 year county commissioner, is praised for aiding veterans by contacting agencies and Congress members Ray Roberts, Wright Patman, and Sam Hall. A 12:00 noon barbecue luncheon features Col. John Castle as MC and State Sen. Ed Howard as speaker. Tickets are $2.50 for adults and $1.75 for children under 12, on sale at Gordyne’s, Piggly Wiggly, and Smith’s Grocery until 5:00 p.m. Monday.
Bonham VFW Post captured first place in a Honey Grove Athletic Department softball double elimination tourney with ten teams. First Baptist Church of Bonham took second, Wolfe City National Bank claimed third as the event concluded.
Harvey Lynn Milton has been named principal of Honey Grove High School succeeding James Smith. A 46 year old native of Oak Ridge, Milton has led Fannindel High School for 19 years and holds degrees from East Texas State University with postgrad study at Howard Payne and TCU. He and his wife Patsy Yarbrough have two children.
Summer Joy, first child of Cliff and Darla Webb, arrived June 21, 1979 at McCuistion Hospital in Paris weighing 6 pounds 1 ounce and measuring 19 inches. A brother Kris, grandparents Eld Hill, Mrs. Gordon Hill of Honey Grove, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Webb, great grandparents Pat Webb, Donnie Chamberlain, W A Hill, Iva Holland.
