Mrs Nellie Smith 73 wife of Zell G Smith of Telephone died June 21 163 at a Savoy rest home after an extended illness. Services conducted at Telephone Baptist church by Rev Harry McKean at 2 30 p m interment Forest Grave cemetery. Survivors include husband Zell G Smith daughter Mrs Dewey Lummus of Ben G Smith and Mrs A G Bud Slagle of Telephone two grandchildren and one great grandchild brother A B Darling half brother Dan Bennethy Grand Prairie half sisters.

Red River Valley Civic Center to hold July 4 open house
The Red River Valley Civic Center dedication and open house for the main unit on the northeast corner of the square are planned for July 4. Financed by the David Graham Hall Foundation, work began two and a half years ago with Canon Building renamed as part of the center’s development under President R. F. Voyer. The Honey Grove Memorial Library, housing about 4,000 books and 426 members, is now in its permanent NE corner location and operated under a library council chaired by Mrs. H. L. Ballew.
