Honey Grove Lay Witness Mission Opens Community Event
The Main Street Presbyterian and McKenzie United Methodist Churches invite Honey Grove residents to a three day Lay Witness Mission. Eight denominations will be represented among 100 plus witnesses, with scheduled activities Friday to Sunday including services, group meetings, a youth service, nurseries, lunches, and team discussions at both churches and the David Graham Hall Foundation Civic Center.

Funeral services for Mrs. Joe Frances Doremus 84 were held Saturday at the Windom Baptist Church. She died June 8 1972 after a four month illness in a Honey Grove nursing home. Burial was in Windom Cemetery. She was born May 17 1888 in Leonard and married P S Doremus in 1907. Surviving are a son a daughter three sisters six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Pallbearers were grandsons.

First Cotton Blooms Reported Near Honey Grove
The area records its first cotton blooms with pink flowers from O. K. Lehtinen’s crop west of Honey Grove. Ginner R. T. Avery brought a bloom to the office Tuesday morning, noted as possibly the earliest in the region. Later, N. M. Joyce in the Dial community reported seven blooms, four marked red indicating at least one day.

Honey Grove School Board Meeting Minutes June 12
The Honey Grove school board met in Supt. Brooks office on Monday evening June 12 with members Milford Billings Rannals Fields Reece and Setzer present and Wise absent. Minutes of the prior meeting were approved and May financial statements presented. Bills were allowed and paid including 271.06 for seven tires and three tubes from transportation funds. Transfers were approved and discussions noted on outstanding bills Special Education commitments and Foundation fund applications. The meeting adjourned.

Fannin County Couple Fatally Injured In Auto Accident
A Friday morning crash at SH121 and SH11 west of Randolph killed Mr. and Mrs. A. F. Bramlett of Ladonia after years in grocery management and teaching. J. P. Hyepock and wife Willie Mae were injured and treated in Sherman. Joint funeral services were held in Greenville with burial in Ladonia Cemetery.

B E Pitts longtime Boswell resident and Memorial Hospital board chairman died in Hugo Oklahoma Tuesday morning June 6 1972.Services were at 6 pm Wednesday at the Baptist church Boswell with Coffey Funeral Home in charge. Burial followed at Restland Cemetery Boswell. Born February 18 1900 he was a native of Sash Community north of Honey Grove and began a retail lumber and grocery career at 16. Bug Tussle Robbery Targets Store By Blond Bandits
Two long haired blond bandits robbed the Bug Tussle store and service station of about $40 Friday near noon. Warren T. Killian, 11, on duty alone, said the bandits threatened him with a gun, grabbed the cash from the register, and fled in an orange Nova. Deputy Sheriff Don Smith investigated.

Caravan Promotes Denison Centennial in Honey Grove
A bearded group and powdered-dress participants arrive Friday night in Honey Grove at 11:30 p.m. to promote Denison’s centennial celebration. They travel with Keystone Kops in a Paddy Wagon and distribute literature and posters for Denison’s 100th birthday set for June 24 to July 1. A police escorted program in the town center will advertise the event and the Kops will summon town officials to the Kangaroo Court in Denison for “being too cooperative.”
