Three-Car Collision Kills Man Near Bonham
Johnnie Murle Parham 56 of Honey Grove died at the scene in a three car crash on Highway 82 two miles east of Bonham on June 6 1981. Eight others were injured, including Parhams daughter and son in law and two Cockrill family members. The Chaney car struck the Cockrill vehicle from behind causing the chain of impact. investigators were Trooper David Maples and Sgt. John Hanna.

The Honey Grove ISD Board of Education met Monday night in regular session at the Superintendent's office. President Hal Fowler called the meeting to order. Dr. Albert Thomas gave the invocation. Members present included H. L. Milton Jimmy Doyle Ansley Alexander Richard Voyer Dale and Rhonda Williams. Minutes from May were read and approved. The board discussed space use at David Graham Hall Foundation facilities and planned renovation and maintenance work.

Holmes Named HG Police Chief in Honey Grove
Mayor Charles Melton announced Mickey Holmes as Chief of Police effective Monday. Holmes joined the department in February and graduated from East Texas Police Academy in Sulphur Springs on May 1. He lives with his wife and daughter at 609 Maple in Honey Grove. Officer Rick Smith, with the department since January, is also a certified officer and East Texas Police Academy graduate in May. Smith resides on South 10th Street in Honey Grove. Holmes and Smith will be available to assist local citizens as needed.
