Sgt Ray Calvert, a former Arlington Texas State College instructor, and Capt Stiles of Garland Texas mailed 25 cents for a bean recipe book. The booklet was sent promptly by the company.
Leonard Collingsworth, 50, of Dodd City joined the Fannin County Sheriff's Department last week announced Sheriff Dudley Jackson He was one of four applicants attracted by the department's recent ad Collingsworth is a former deputy sheriff and Bonham police member who succeeds Frank Wilson who resigned.

Marine Lance Corporal Billy W. Whitlock of Honey Grove Texas participated in Operation Georgia near Da Nang as a communications specialist with the 12th Marine Regiment. In a Viet Nam Report interview, Whitlock noted Viet Cong use of captured wires and said he is a short timer due for rotation back to the United States that summer.
Miss Paulette Williams and Miss Sherrell Shipman appeared on Walt Oliver’s 12 Acres on KXII TV May 27. They will attend the June 7 8 9 Texas A&M University State Round Up to demonstrate community improvement for Fannin County. Shipman is daughter of Dan Shipman Route 3 Williams daughter of Marlow Williams Route 1. Both are Allen Point 4-H Club members. Other Fannin 4-H members attending include Ginger Studivant Danny Bowman Ronny Odom Bill Wheeler Windom Club and Carolyn Knowles Bob Lane Allen Point Club.

130 students enrolled in a summer school program at Honey Grove Elementary offering headstart and basic instruction for grades 1 through 8. Program runs 7:30 to 12:30, with free lunch and transportation, eight week term ends July 29. Activities include weekly swimming at Bonham State Park, field trips, and a Six Flags trip near term end funded by S&H Green Stamps.

Mrs Zula Carter was informed that the funeral for W W Holley occurred in San Diego California on Sunday June 5 He is survived by his wife Treva Young a Honey Grove native a daughter and a son He lived at 430 N Palm Hemet California and had been in declining health for months He was a World War One veteran.

Funeral services for Rev. Oliver G. Rowe 46 retired Nazarene minister and farmer were held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in Wise funeral home chapel officiated by Rev. Edwin Griffin Rev. Doyle Wilson and Rev. Everett Hutchings. Interment was in Willow Wild cemetery with pallbearers J. W. Herndon Bill Welch Sammy Smith Bill Atkins Vince Farmer and Leslie Parker. He died Sunday June 5 1966 in a Bonham hospital. Survivors include his widow Mrs Liddal Rowe of the home Route 1 Telephone a son Sidney Rowe of Bonham four grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Mr and Mrs Harold Sorrelis with Delaine and Dudley are vacationing this week visiting Arkansas Mississippi and several other states continuing a broad southeastern tour with family and friends accompanying them.

Phillip Holt of Farmersville was elected line coach of the Honey Grove Warriors by the Honey Grove school district board. His appointment depends on Coach Don Newsom accepting a position in Abilene. Newsom may resign, making Holt the head line coach. Holt is 25 and a East Texas State alum with prior coaching at Wolfe City.
Funeral services for Mrs. Jake Ramsey of Honey Grove were pending at press time. She died at 6 00 am Wednesday June 8 1966 in Allen Memorial Hospital Bonham. Cooper Sorrels is in charge with arrangements not determined at press time.

Bonham bids to resurface 25 miles of Precinct 3 roads will be received and opened by the commissioners court on June 20 at 10 a.m. Commissioner John Avery says contracting is cheaper and more efficient than using his crews due to lacking equipment.

Funeral services for John Kennedy Mims aged 75 of 615 Commerce Street Honey Grove were arranged for 2:30 p.m. Thursday June 9 at the First Christian Church. Mims died at his home June 17 1966 after a period of ill health. Interment is in Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Edwin Gorom officiating. Born October 18 1890 in New Port Mississippi he was a Woodmen of the World member for 50 years and belonged to the Odd Fellows lodge and the First Christian Church. Survivors include his wife Daisy Mims of Honey Grove and several nieces and nephews.
The Honey Grove Memorial Library, in cooperation with the Texas State Library, invites children ages 7 through 13 to join the Summer Reading Club. The first meeting is Wednesday June 15 at 3 00 PM in the Civic Center. A certificate is issued for reading twelve books by August 10. Refreshments and games to greet the group.
