Rites held for Harry Eugene Blocker Sr of Dallas who died May 31 1963 after illness. Born April 27 1891 in Honey Grove he married Racheal Stevens in 1913. Services were in Highland Park Presbyterian Church Dallas with graveside at Oakwood Honey Grove. Survivors include wife two sons a sister a brother six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

The Mayor's Annual Report lists Hon ey Grove finances for the year ending Feb 28 1963. It shows total assets and liabilities at 605 408.71 with indebtedness 147 553.43. Bonded debt 143 000.00 plus current bills and water deposits 4 553.43. Cash on hand and receivables 38 527.84. Delinquent taxes total 46 165.17 as of Feb 25 1963, up about 2 000 from 1962. Tax collections for the year were 36 810.81, vs 20 209.37 in 1962 and 15 572.73 in 1961. The Foundation aided city administration, providing director and other services worth over 10 000, enabling reforms.

Savoy TP and L Plant Dedicated Friday
Lt. Gov. Preston Smith spoke at Savoy for the dedication of Texas Power and Light Company Valley Stream Electric Station. The three mile north plant on Farm Road 1752 near Lake Valley showcased electric service, a 1,925 psi 1,005 degree boiler, turbo generators, and modern testing labs. TP&L officials cited growth and future capacity, noting other stations in Trinidad, Rivercrest, McKinney, Nacogdoches, and Waco and a planned 500,000 kilowatt unit at Stryker Creek near Nacogdoches.

Honey Grove Pony Leaguers opened against Fannindel last Saturday night here and were defeated 7-4. Phil Fuller struck out 18 of 21 putouts. The Pony Leaguers beat the Mustangs 7-4 in Commerce on Monday. Colt Leaguers opened at Wolfe City Monday with a 5-4 win led by James Fuller and Dom Herriage. Next Thursday the Colts host Commerce. the Pony League Braves travel to Commerce.

Honey Grove Memorial Library finished relocating all 3600 volumes to the Civic Center last week. Dobbs Receives Degree At Texas Tech In Animal Husbandry
Larry Dobbs son of Mr and Mrs Frank Dobbs of Honey Grove is earning his degree in animal husbandry from Texas Technological College Lubbock. He is serving six months active training at Ft Polk La and will be assigned to Ft Sam Houston for specialized training. He is spending a ten day leave with his parents.
