United Presbyterian minister Rev Arthur R Osborne plans retirement August 31 1973 after forty years of service. He led churches in Allegan Peru Clarksville Mesquite Honey Grove Ladonia and Clarksville Texas and held key roles in presbyteries and synods including st ated clerk moderator and General Assembly delegate. He and wife Marjorie live in Cedar Rapids then plan to move to Clarksville.

County agent Wayne Cranfill urged spraying pecan trees in Fannin County from June 1 to June 5 to combat pecan nut casebearer. He recommended Malathion or Levin with two tablespoons per gallon of water and a second spray seven to ten days after the first for better protection.

District questionnaire shows strong support on many issues
A district survey of about 20 percent of 10th-person respondents reveals 89 percent favor retaining Right to Work, 91 percent back death penalty reinstatement, 92 percent back competitive auto insurance rates, and 51 percent support Daylight Saving Time. Other results include 7 percent for minimum wage increase, 59-41 Sunday closing support, 35 percent for higher unemployment benefits, 12 percent for wage garnishment, 39 percent for reducing first time marijuana penalties, and 51 percent for granting adult status to 18-year-olds.
Ships To Haul Natural Gas To Be Built
A 310 million contract was awarded Avondale Shipyards in New Orleans to build three ships designed to haul liquid natural gas for El Paso Natural Gas Co. of Houston, a subsidiary of Ogden Corp. of New York, marking the yard's largest ever order. Edwin Hartzman, president of Avondale, announced the news on Monday.
