Mrs. Finley Huffman aged 71, former Honey Grove resident, died May 29 1956 at her Dallas home after a long illness. Funeral services were set for 4 pm Thursday at Robert West Funeral Home with Rev Harold Wise officiating. Burial in Oakwood Cemetery. She was born Cornelia Palmer in Rienzi Mississippi on November 9 1884 and married Finley Huffman November 19 1925 in Honey Grove. The couple lived in Honey Grove before moving to Dallas 14 years ago. She was a member of the First Church.
Miss Lucinda Rayburn longtime Washington hostess to House Speaker Sam Rayburn died Saturday at the Rayburn home west of Bonham Texas. She was in her early 80s and had surgery about six weeks earlier. Funeral services were held Monday at Wise Funeral Home Bonham with burial in Bonham. She was born in Roane County Tennessee and lived in Texas since 1889. Surviving siblings include brothers Tom and Dick Rayburn and sisters Mrs S E Bartley and Mrs W A Thomas.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Baker of Commerce and daughter Martha of Colorado Springs join Mrs. H. T. Baker and children Bobby Patricia and Annabelle of New York City as guests of Mrs. Bob Chiles and other relatives this week.
A Dallas woman known as Miss Cornelia, long loved by music pupils, lived in Lannius with her parents for several years. Survived by husband of Dallas, two sisters Mrs. H. L. Allen of Honey Grove and Mrs. Myrtle Smith of St. Louis Mo, plus numerous nieces and nephews. Reported
Roy Newman Perry son of Mr and Mrs Newman Perry earned a B S degree from ETS TC and will join the Ft Worth public schools as an Industrial Arts teacher. He will be employed at Convair through the summer.
The Rev T J Watts of Honey Grove Baptist Church has been selected as baccalaureate speaker for Paris Junior College on Sunday June 3 at 11 am in the college auditorium. Commencement exercises will follow at 2 pm the same day with Dr S V Martorana of the U S Department of Health Education and Welfare as principal speaker.
Mrs. Dorthula Lollis 75 of Wichita Falls died Sunday May 27 in a Wichita Falls hospital. Services were at First Baptist church in Honey Grove at 3:00 pm with Rev. T. R. Hawkins officiating. Burial in Oakwood cemetery with West Funeral Home directing. Survived by John Lollis husband since 1925, three daughters Daly Castle Grace Smith Lillian Wilson, two sons Jewel Emzy Singleton, two brothers Earl Barnett Roy Barnett, one sister Mrs Will Crossland, and a late daughter Elpha Kilough. She was born October 6 1881 in Logan County Arkansas and was a member of East Side Baptist Church.
Bonham will initiate a telephone system Sunday described by R C Cole as terminal per station. The change allows number stability if residents move within town. Cutover begins soon after midnight Saturday and should be fully in use by morning.
Honey Grove gears up for four weeks of baseball with Pony and Little League four teams each. Pony League games run Monday and Thursday led by Louie Rhodes, Clyde Gentry, Jimmy Doyle, and John Barrett. Little League on Tuesday and Friday led by Wash Underwood, John Ingram, Dec Melton, Harry Dial. Kenneth Rowton returns as president with Cooper Carter as vice president overseeing the Pony League.
The Pony League lists a series of scheduled games starting June 4 with Pirates versus Indians and Dodgers versus Braves. Following lineups show June 7 Braves host Pirates and Indians host Dodgers, then June 11 Pirates host Dodgers and Indians host Braves. Through June 14 Indians host Pirates and Braves host Dodgers, then June 15 Pirates host Braves and Dodgers host Indians. June 21 features Braves versus Indians, with remaining entries through July 23 Dodgers versus Pirates and other matchups.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Pecan Gap Baptist Church for Vivian E. Shipman longtime Pecan Gap resident who died Sunday in a Cooper hospital after a long illness. Burial followed in Pecan Gap Cemetery with Honey Grove Masonic Lodge in charge. Survivors include wife Neeye Shipman of Pecan Gap son Kyle Atkins McFerrin of Dallas and three sisters.

Sheriff Hoyt Ivey questioned six juveniles aged six to fifteen in Bonham as part of an inquiry into delinquency linked to a Honey Grove crime ring. Parents were summoned after the youths were questioned, with County Attorney Tibby Wright joining the investigation.

Highway Patrolman J. L. Smith said Bankston lost control of his car, veered into a bar ditch, and struck a concrete post. Bankston was not injured, with estimated vehicle damage around $300.
City Park Association seeks funds to maintain Crockett Park. Membership dues are $1 per year and may be paid to Evelyn Walden, park committee chair, or W B Rieves, park fund treasurer, as soon as possible.
The tenth annual Honey Grove Rodeo sponsored by the Honey Grove Round-Up Club will be held at the club arena north of Honey Grove on Farm Highway 100 June 27 28 and 29. Ward Bros. of Colgate Oklahoma produce this year’s event featuring bareback bronc calf roping bull dogging Brahma bull riding wild horse race girls bareful race and cutting horse contest along with specialty acts. Grover Hall serves as Roundup Club president for the year.
Funeral rites for Dr. O P Neilson a Honey Grove dentist of 36 years were held at McKenzie Methodist Church. He was found dead of an apparent heart attack in his office near the First National Bank on May 24. Burial in Oakwood Cemetery with Masonic rites. Survivors include a son Robert Neilson and daughter Mrs James Herrod, plus three brothers and three sisters.

Honey Grove Garden Club staged an Ice Cream Supper and Political Rally at Crockett Park on Tuesday night. Proceeds supported the Armory pledge for Honey Grove's National Guard Armory site. the event drew several hundred residents and numerous political aspirants, raising 210 dollars toward the 250 dollar goal.

Last rites for Spruce Talmadge Crossland of Honey Grove were held at Windom Baptist Church on Monday May 28. He died at the McKinney VA Hospital on May 27 1956 and was interred at Windom Cemetery near his funeral home. Survivors include his son Carlton Mitchell Crossland three brothers Will Crossland of Windom B K Crossland of Plainview and George Crossland of Troup plus nieces and nephews.
