45th Annual Texas Farm Bureau Convention Highlights
Thirteen delegates from Fannin County attended the 45th Texas Farm Bureau convention in Dallas with about 1,500 attendees from 212 county Farm Bureaus. Delegates adopted policy for the next year and recommended issues for the American Farm Bureau Federation meeting in Miami Beach in January 1979. Carrol Chaloupka was elected president for 1979, and speakers included S. M. True Jr and Warren Newberry.

Debbie Shelton of Paris a former Ladonia resident is among 40 Paris Junior College students selected for inclusion in the 1978 79 Who's Who Among Students in American Junior Colleges. The selections cited academic achievement community service leadership and potential. Shelton a Fannindel High School graduate majors in Associate Degree Nursing at PJC and serves as president of the Nursing Association.

Texas Department honors century farms in Family Land Heritage program
The Texas Department of Agriculture recognized 66 farms and ranches for at least 100 years of continuous production in ceremonies in Austin. Agriculture Commissioner Reagan V. Brown awarded certificates, with registries to be published next January and distributed to libraries. The program, in its fifth year, has honored 1,245 properties since 1974.

Workfare to Require Food Stamp Offsets in 14 Areas
