The Honey Grove Chamber of Commerce announces the Arts and Crafts Fair to be held Saturday October 10 from 9 to 5 on the Square in Honey Grove. Area artists may register by September 1 with a $3 display fee to benefit the Chamber. contact Arts and Crafts Chairman Mrs Dean Newhouse at 378 7237.
Teachers in the Honey Grove School System plan an Inservice Day on Monday August 17 at their schools followed by a Work Day on August 18 and an Inservice at Leonard Schools August 19 hosted by Region 10.
Delta County CRA rodeo in Cooper runs August 13 14 15 with parades at 5 00 p m starting Thursday and nightly rodeo action at 8 30 featuring bronc riding calf roping steer wrestling bull riding barrel racing and team roping Each event carries 50 added money Jerald Smith of Wing Rodeo Company supplies stock Sanctioning by Central Rodeo Association Delta County Roping Club sponsors Admission 2 or 3 dollars.
Eloy Brionez of Southwestern Bell Telephone received a plaque as Greenville District Main Employee of the Year. He has twelve years with the company, with ten years in California and recent transfers spanning Dallas Paris and Greenville. His supervisor was Richard Griffin and he credits W. T. Blair for his Texas transfer. Brionez and his wife Liz Sanders live with their two children, Aaron and Taysha, at 800 Hickory Street in Honey Grove.
A Play Day is planned at the Honey Grove Round-Up Club Arena on Hwy 100 north of Honey Grove on Sunday August 16 starting at 1 p.m. Five events are scheduled Flags Poles Keyhole Rescue and Barrels with first through fourth place trophies and ribbons plus a High Point Trophy in each age group. COME ALL for a fun day, says the Round-Up Club spokesman.
The Honey Grove Merchants remain undefeated at 18 wins and no losses after recent games. Scores shown include HG 29 over Sam Rayburn 0, HG 30 over Tri County 2, HG 15 over Trenton 5, and HG 11 over Leonard Angels 0. A Friday game on August 7 at 8:00 p.m. at the Little League field in Honey Grove pits Honey Grove against Whitewright.
The Old Oaks Christian Center at Telephone announces a gospel revival for all denominations on August 12 14 and 15. Evening services start at 7 30 p m in the outdoor amphitheater by the Red River. Three ministers and three singing groups will perform. Public invited. See ad for details.
The Golden Age Club meets Friday August 7 in the Robert West Annex at the PJC Center Seventh Street Entrance at 10 a.m. A covered dish luncheon follows at noon after the program. All members are encouraged to attend.
Van Hou tan completes eight weeks of general military instruction at Naval Training Center San Diego. Seaman Recruit Terry R. Van Hou tan, son of Guy W. Van Hou tan of Honey Grove Texas, studied seamanship close order drill Naval history and first aid and earned eligibility for three hours of college credit in Physical Education and hygiene.

The Hon ey Grove Church Of Christ announces Vacation Bible School with theme My Jesus I Will Live For Thee. Classes span ages 2 to 8 with named teachers and assistants. A concurrent young adult and adult lecture series features speakers on Christian living. Program runs Sunday August 9 through Wednesday August 12 with multiple daily sessions and public invitation.
The Honey Grove Golf Club will host a two man best ball event on Saturday and Sunday August 15 and 16. Entry is 10 dollars per two man team with 36 holes. Flights after Saturday qualifying, prizes for first two in each flight, and closest to pin on hole 9.
Honey Grove Independent School District trustees will hold a meeting on Monday August 10 at 7 p.m. in the superintendent's office to discuss district matters.
The Honey Grove Warriors start two a day workouts Monday at 8 00 a m with a 6 30 p m session. Coach Terry Witt reports 32 players at the first meeting and expects more. First scrimmage is set with Forney on August 21 followed by Rivercrest at Warrior Stadium on August 28.
The Honey Grove Little League All-Stars finished second among eight teams in a July 2025 tournament. They opened with a 94 win over Wolfe City pitched by Roger Bigger, then beat Sherman 9-5 with Homer Garner on the mound. They lost 6-0 to Bonham, beat Leonard 11-5, and dropped a 10-0 final to Bonham for first place.
Community urged to attend scrimmages and the River Crest Rebels game. donors are asked to bring towels for the field house. Coach Witt thanks supporters as the season opens and notes towel donations are appreciated.
The Young Homemakers family picnic scheduled for Friday August 7 has been postponed to Friday August 14. Readers will see updates in next week's paper and are urged to prepare for an old fashioned cook out and an evening of family fun.
