Holbrook Firefighters Host Eighth July Barbecue Event
Holbrook's volunteer firemen and their wives invite all to the eighth annual Independence Day barbecue at the fire house south of the tracks. Seven truckloads of cedar wood, 2000 pounds of beef, 75 gallons of beans, 60 gallons of cole slaw and hot rolls will be prepared under First Assistant Chief Bill Baldwin. The meal runs from noon until exhausted, followed by a fireworks display at the football field starting at dusk.

The annual AAA rodeo at Pinetop Lakes arena runs July 2 and 4 with bareback saddle bronc bull riding steer wrestling calf roping barrel racing and team roping. Jackpot and timed events take place July 3. Admission charges are 2.50 adults and 1.50 children.
