One Bid Presented For Pine Stumpage
Southwest Chemical of Cross City Florida submitted the only bid for stumpwood and topwood from 450000 acres of the Coconino National Forest. The $325 per ton bid by Fred Cresswell of Southwest Chemical is under study by Forest Service officials for possible award. If approved, a processing plant would be built in Northern Arizona or New Mexico and employ up to 175 people with a $3 million payroll by 1980.
