Navajo County employees' Personnel Commission must propose changes before Board of Supervisors commits to personnel policy shifts. Alford resigns Joseph City High principal post
Harold Alford, principal of Joseph City High School for eight years, resigns to take a private sector job and will move to Salem Oregon to begin duties around Sept. 1. He joined the district in 1971, after Joseph City began sending seniors to Holbrook High School. Under his tenure enrollment tripled, curriculum expanded, accreditation achieved, and sports improved leading to two state wrestling championships.

The Holbrook City Planning Commission meets at 5 15 p m today at city hall to hear about Eighth Ave EDs seminars. Holbrook hosts Shriners this weekend with a downtown parade at 11 00 a m and a pro am golf tourney at Hidden Cove Golf Course this Saturday and Sunday with tee times 8 30 and 1 30. Proceeds from a Fourth of July beef barbecue support a new fire training facility, and a fireworks show is planned near the Navajo County Governmental Center at dusk with no admission. A blood drive runs today and Friday at Snowflake High School cafeteria from 1 to 7 p m today and 8 a m to noon Friday.
